A face only a mother could love!

This weekend, I was sitting out back, reading…..

(I’m hooked on her books at the moment! This is the 2nd one I’ve read.

The two I’ve read have been about women in the early 1900’s who decide to have a career,

in addition to their family, come hell or high water)

The first one I read was

about a woman who had given up her medical training to become a wife

and mother, and then inherits a “windfall”.

While reading I was also watching our cardinal family visit the feeder.

If you look carefully at the picture above, you can see father, sitting on

the feeder and mother flying in to join him.

IMG_2707

The cardinals have built a nest in a vine that grows against the back of our house,

next to the patio table and chairs…..it’s great, because you can sit there

and watch them coming in and out of their nest and they will often

land very close to you.

IMG_2711

Above are the vines where their nest is located.

I was lucky enough to be outside when their chicks were leaving the nest and

learning how to fly.  They would hop out of the nest and then hop underneath the chair

where I was sitting, while mother and father kept a close eye on them.

One of the chicks flew directly into the swimming pool and I was

able to scoop it out of the pool with the pool net and deposit into the garden.

Like I said in the title…..a face only a mother could love!

Furever Home

Good news! This little guy has a furever home!

I featured him a while back….he was the basset hound who was

emaciated and his foster home nursed him back to health.

Good luck to you Chip!

Madison graduates from junior high

IMG_2585

I’ve had so many pictures to share, so I’ve

tried to split them up.

IMG_2590

These are pictures of my niece’s junior high

graduation from St. Agnes on Tuesday night.

IMG_2591

Here she is opening a gift from

my mom (her grandma)

The lovely lady in pink is MY grandma

IMG_2594

So proud of her!

As she walked up on stage they read nice things her classmates

had written about her…..

“Madison Schulze…..

Loves black, red and purple…

Very fashionable..

Has a million pairs of shoes…

Loves to shop…

and she loves her cousins!”

Fences and Friends

IMG_2614

Kenny put a garden bench in our front yard, close

to our neighbor, Ruby’s house.  That way, when they are outside

gardening, they have a place to sit and catch up if they like.

(I’m thinking I’ll whip up some sort of cushion to make it a bit more

comfy for them)

IMG_2604

Kenny insisted that I go through Ruby’s gate and get pictures of all

the poppies that had escaped from our yard and populated Ruby’s yard!

IMG_2605

There are a lot! She loves them!

They say that fences make good neighbors, but I think escaped

poppies make even better friends!

In progress

IMG_2565

The weather here has been cold and rainy one day

IMG_2564

and then glorious the next…..

for now, I’ve put aside the wool quilt I’m working on,

and I’m saving it for the rainy days….still

piecing together the top….

fun picking the colors and watching my

wool stash dwindle just a bit…..

dwindling is good…that means more room

for new stuff!

Shopping Spree

Seeing as how I’ve been on vacation for a few days this week….

I decided to indulge in a little retail therapy….

Etsy style!

To be honest, sometimes I forget about Etsy….

but then when I start looking around, there are so many

unique items.

Tonight I picked up 2 shirts to wear to the gym….

I love these burnout tees….they are nice and fitted, so you can

wear them to yoga and not worry about them coming up over

your head when you are upside down! This one even has some little

rhinestones on it!

It is from

The other shirt I got shows my love of rescue dogs….

Love that bright pink color!  This one is from

The Rescue Shop

The proceeds go towards animal rescue….I like that!

You can also go to another web page to see where some of this

money is going. Click HERE

Enjoy your evening,

Tammy

Hooking Love

Just perusing eBay this morning and looking at some of the hooked rugs

that have and have not sold.

Although I’m drawn to hook with bold colors in my own rugs,

I do appreciate the drab colors and the simple design in this rug

birdpot1

This rug was listed at $795 and did not sell.

birdpot2

What do you think?

birdpot3

The next one has cherries and is a really simple design,

it sold for $440. I think it’s lovely…

Here is one that makes me laugh….I know, we all strive to draw simple,

everyday objects, but it’s harder than it looks….this chicken cracks me up

and makes me smile

chicken1

It’s so faded, that you barely notice the chicks until they show you

the close-up

chicken2

I like how they mounted it, now it’s ready to hang….I don’t think

whoever bought this was planning on putting it on the floor.

This sold for $394.57

I’m trying to figure out what it’s bound with….denim?

chicken3

It’s also nice to see some “just hooked” rugs going for a decent price

as well.  Here is one from Tonya at Mad Hen Primitives that

sold for $380

boat

Here is another “just hooked” rug that went for the same price

from seller puddleduckprimitives

I’m off work today, so hoping to hook a little and sew a little.

Enjoy your day!

By the way, I’ve turned the comments function back on….I’m in a much

better place and feel a bit more back in my groove, so feel free

to say hi
