Does he like the water?

We have an inground pool in our backyard, so I asked Lonnie's foster mom if he liked or disliked the water. She said she had a friend with a pool so she took him over tonight and it looks like he doesn't have much interest in the pool.....that's a good thing!

For the cat lovers out there!

And I know there are a lot of you!

This is a rug hooked by Lily Mayfield.

She is the step-daughter of Dulcy from Dulcy's Doorstep.

I love the colors she used and how she made this into a piece you could keep out all the time, because to be honest, when I saw the pattern, I thought of Halloween.

Isn't it fun how people see patterns that are black and white in different colors in their mind?! I think that is one of the things I like the best about hooking!

The pattern is from Angela at Breezy Ridge Rugs....she mainly sells on eBay or you could contact her directly if you are interested in this pattern.

And to keep with our cat theme today, I'm sharing this little lady with you who needs a home. Her coloring and attitude seem to fit with the cat on the rug!

Her name is Ginger....pretty name!

To find out more about her click on her picture.

What do you think?

I saw this cute clutch and purse on

VivaTerra - Eco Living With Style

It looks like it is woven, but what if you did something with hooking and prodding....do you think you could get close to the same feel?
Pretty cute I think!

Got to hook

a little last night. YAY!

Here is the progress on the purse that I started just a while back.

This has been so much fun to hook and I love using up bits and pieces from all of my "worms".

Hopefully I'll make some time to sit down and hook a bit after I finish painting the dining room ceiling this afternoon after I get off work.

Yesterday I didn't dye any wool but I did manage to put some new wools in the CLEARANCE section of the eBay store. See them by clicking HERE.

A white bundle of joy!

Hi all!
This is Zagie, an American Eskimo Dog.
The more and more I search for dogs to put on my blog, it just amazes me just how MANY dogs there are out there in need of homes. I'm fortunate to live in a city where we have a PetsMart that has adoptions on the weekends. Such a great thing and such a grass roots effort by so many out there who are fostering these homeless dogs while they are waiting for a forever home.
Anyone need a sweet little white bundle of joy?

Look at that face

This is Wilbur. My search today was for an American Bulldog and I came across this precious face!!! Read more about Wilbur here.

1/2 way there

Yesterday I got the kitchen ceiling painted, but not the dining room. That is my task for today....or maybe Monday. Still deciding. I know I won't have enough paint to finish today, so I'm thinking.....why start. I ended up getting my paint at my local "Seminole Decor" store down the street from me. Nothing fancy....just ceiling white.

I started out running errands with Cleopatra riding along with me in the car....first the bank and a doggie treat, then the pool store, then PetsMart and more doggie treats and then by the time we got to Home Depot and pulled up in the parking lot it was just too hot for her to have to stay in the car.....even for a few minutes for me to run in and grab paint.

On a sunnier note....yes, we've got sun!!! The garden is beautiful! Here are a few morning shots.
This first one is an arbor that has Dutchman's pipe growing on it. It is at the back of our yard and leads you to a secret side yard.
Okay, this picture maybe looks a bit crazed! Kenny has planted banana trees in a path leading from our house down to the back of the yard. Once they are all sprouted out it should make a really cool canopied path....I'll have to keep you updated on the progress of this project.

This is one of my favorite features. Kenny took a huge pottery jug and made it into a fountain that just constantly trickles over the side.....Cleopatra likes to lick the sides of it and the birds love to frolick and cool off in it!

2 dogs for today

I just realized that I missed posting a "dog of the day" on Friday, so today I'm featuring 2.

The first one is an Akita called "Miki". Click here to read more about her. She sounds like a smarty!

Next is Flame. An Alaskan Malamute and such a beautiful creature. Read more about her here.

Do you know anyone looking for a friend?

One thing I've learned

over the years is to "go with the flow".

I was hoping my backsplash would be going in today, but I haven't heard back from the "tile guy". I tried to get in touch with him last night, but the cell phone he uses was not picking up....who knows, he could have been somewhere remote where he wasn't getting a good signal. Once it gets past the decent hour of 9am I'm going to give him a call and hopefully he'll say he's starting today.

My peninsula hood hung down too low so they had to send it to a place called "Rose Metal" to have them laser cut it down and the good news is that it is going in on Tuesday.

I kind of lost momentum for the Fiber Fair since I didn't really have a good opportunity to dye up wool and get things "together" for that function, but I do know that Carol and Maddi from "Simply Fibers" will be there so if you get a chance to stop by please stop by to say hi.

Soooooo, today I'm going to venture out to Home Depot and get some of my favorite brand of paint....Behr....and start painting my ceiling. Then once that is complete I'm hoping to... at the bare minimum to do some spot dyes in my oven. My wool inventory on eBay and Etsy and Simply Fibers is soooo low right now and I really am having the itch to do some wool dyeing!

Fiber Fest...up in the air

....not sure if I'll be able to make it to Fiber Fest this Saturday. I might have someone here laying tile for my backsplash......I'll keep you posted.

I did dye a teeny bit of wool today....my hood is not in yet....it hung down too low, so they are making modifications. I still dyed 3 yards....1 yard in the oven and two on the stove top. I love that I can fill up my pots with the pull out faucet and empty the water in the prep sink......no more lugging heavy pots back and forth...YAY!

Tuesday's Pet

Can you help this lovely find a home?
Today's pet is this beautiful Afghan Hound.
Who knew you could find one of these beauties to adopt?!
You can read more about her here on Petfinder.
Need to know more about Afghan Hounds first? If so click here.
Yes, I'm still hooking.....actually digging through my woolies to try and find more stuff for eBay and Etsy.
Check back later tonight,
Tammy

Helping the helpless

Part of my mission this year is to help the plight of homeless pets. I'm trying to do this by promoting shelter/rescue adoptions and only shopping at pet stores that DO NOT sell pets. I hope you will consider doing the same.

In that vein, I'm going to be trying to feature a "Pet of the Day" who needs a home.

To make things fair I'm going in alphabetical order according to breeds, but may occasionally feature one who just catches my eye.

My dog, Cleopatra, was a rescued stray and she is a doll. Big Truvy was also a rescue that I found on Petfinder. There are so many wonderful pets out there looking for homes.

Today's "Pet of the Day" is Jack.
His breed is
Affenpinscher.
You can find Jack at Petfinder

Just saw this!

As I was fiddling around on Amazon making a carousel of books that I like, I ran across this.....not yet out yet, but taking pre-orders on Amazon.
I LOVE prodding and hope to offer a small tutorial here in the near future......not sure I can do all this fancy stuff that Gene Shepherd does, but I bet I can get you going.

Is it pretty twisted when you have more time to get on the computer from work than you do at home?

I don't know what is going on in your part of the country, but here in Missouri it's been a mixture of rain and beautiful weather. That means MUCH more time spent outdoors and less and less indoors.

This past weekend I went to look at tile for the backsplash in my kitchen (it's getting CLOSER to being completed). Have I told you of how tired I am of washing dishes in my bathroom sink and eating out?!
Today they are supposed to be installing my range hood and HOPEFULLY the plumbing!!! YAY!!!

These are the two tiles that I liked:

The first one is a small mosaic glass tile

and the other is a slate tile, but layed in a more Frank Lloyd Wright style than the picture here.

(This is the color I like)
It would be laid out like this.......(this is the pattern I like)

I think we are going with the Moss stone....after holding the samples up a jillion different times, it just seems to fit better with our home and replicates the way the stone on the outside of our house is laid out.
Hopefully on Wednesday I'll be a wool dyeing fool and have all kinds of pots going and the ovens going with fabulous spot dyes.....yes, I'll be cooking wool before I'll be cooking food!

Tammy

Still hooking

I've still been hooking away on this tote/purse pattern that I got from Nola. I'm really having fun with the colors on it.

I picked out my color palette here and then I've been using those wools as a jumping off spot and adding in different colors in the same value to add more interest to it. It's really fun, but obviously takes more time to hook that way.

I'm trying to use up lots of my left-over worms.....hope to hook more tonight, but I have a lot on my plate after work today:

  1. Buy garbage disposal for installation in the kitchen

  2. Put together some wools and cover some cording with wool for one of my customers who is going to be hooking this "Sheep Dreams" pillow. In different colors, of course.

  3. Vacuum the pool

  4. Mow the back yard (this might have to wait until Wednesday)

  5. Mail some packages.

  6. Walk Cleopatra

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining.....all of these things are GOOD!

It means:

  1. The kitchen is closer to completion

  2. People like what I'm doing

  3. Warm weather is here

  4. Warm weather is here

  5. People are still making purchases with me

  6. I have a great little dog that I love!

(me taking Cleo down Patti's steep stairs....she just HAD to climb up them, but then didn't want to come back down.....I had to scoot all the way down on my rear)
